Phuong Nguyen (she/her)
MSW, LMSW
Phuong (pronounced “Fong”) is a trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-affirming therapist dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and empowering space for healing. She values openness, authenticity, and curiosity in the therapy process. Her approach is collaborative, client-centered, strengths-based, and relational, with the goal of helping clients feel truly seen and accepted for who they are.
Phuong works with individuals ages 10 and older who are seeking support with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD, ADHD, identity exploration, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, perfectionism, grief and loss, substance abuse, and life transitions. She understands that life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, and she meets each client with compassion, curiosity, and non-judgment.
Her therapeutic approach is flexible and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Phuong integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, mindfulness, somatic practices, and art-based interventions. This integrative approach allows her to address the mind-body connection, fostering holistic healing and growth.
Phuong’s journey in mental health began during her service in the United States Air Force, where she worked as a Mental Health Technician and Alcohol and Drug Counselor. These experiences shaped her understanding of resilience, identity, and the challenges people face in high-stress environments. After completing her service, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona and a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.
As a queer woman of color, Phuong is committed to cultural humility and anti-oppressive practice. She recognizes the impact that systemic issues and cultural identities can have on mental health and strives to provide affirming care for all clients, particularly those from marginalized communities.
Phuong values authenticity, creativity, humor, and connection in both therapy and everyday life. Outside of her work, Phuong enjoys spending time with her dogs, exploring new video games and books, trying out new recipes, creating art and music, and lifting weights.
Her mission is to help clients reconnect with their strengths, embrace their authentic selves, and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and resilience. Whether you are starting therapy for the first time or returning after some time away, Phuong would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
